-10 Degrees F Does Not Mean Stay Inside! 1/15/12

Apparently snowshoeing is where it's at for me this winter.  That's ok with me!  This time, we decided to go check out Eklutna Lake in all its winter glory. The fact that it's -10 degrees F out there... that just means you put a couple more layers on.  Actually, yes, standing still out there was chilly.  But it didn't take long to get warmed up and even get to the point that I was sweating as we were snowshoeing in some deep powder.  The only other tracks on this "trail" we were on were from a moose and a few from a snowshoe hare, and I can tell you they weren't helpful in making the work any easier.  I ended up with just a thermal shirt and fleece on top for most of the time, and it felt great!

Driving on the road to Eklutna Lake. Doesn't LOOK like it's -10 degrees F, does it?

From the trail along the lake... That's the lake between the trees and the mountains.
We couldn't resist making snow angels... although by the time I got back on my feet in the deep snow, my angel didn't look like much of anything.  At least we got a couple pictures before it was ruined!

Another scenic before we head back...

All done... frosty, tired, and happy! :)
And on the way home, we were treated to an extra-special sunset.  Looks fiery!

'Til next time...
